Sosan Hua

Ms. Sosan Hua graduated from the University of Toronto with Honours Bachelor Degree in Nutritional Sciences. Currently, she is also taking courses at Seneca College to obtain her fitness leadership certificate and working towards getting her Certified Diabetes Educator designation.
She is a consulting dietitian working for community health centre and private clinic offering nutrition seminars to different ethnic individuals and groups, as well as individual consultations specializing in the prevention and management of heart disease, diabetes, weight management, and prenatal nutrition. Her client-centred and holistic approach combining practical advice and evidence based practice has helped many clients achieve their health and fitness goals. She is actively involved with different ethno-cultural communities and often invited to speak at churches, profit and non-profit organizations on variety of topics including and not limited to healthy eating, menopause, cancer, diabetes, weight management, high cholesterol, osteoporosis, and food labeling.
She was an instructor at Centennial College for 3 years teaching 2 courses - Food Safety and Nutrition & Health. She is a co-author of a recently written chapter for Beyond the Basics – East Asian food cultural practices and diabetes management, which will appear on Beyond the Basics: Meal Planning for Healthy Eating, Diabetes Prevention and Management book. In addition, she is often interviewed by Today’s Daily, Ming Pao and Sing Tao Chinese newspapers and has appeared on OMNI television, Fairchild television, Fairchild radio and Toronto Chinese radio as the expert in the area of nutrition and food issues.
She is an active member of Dietitians of Canada, the College of Dietitians of Ontario, network member for Consulting Dietitians of Canada Network, Diabetes, Obesity and Cardiovascular Network and Diabetes Educator of Canadian Diabetes Association, Canadian Obesity Network, and Chinese Advisory Council for Canadian Cancer Society. She is currently a member of the planning committee for the yearly Canadian Diabetes Association Chinese Symposium. In addition, she is recently elected as chair for the Chinese Cancer Information Forum for the Canadian Cancer Society and also serves as chair for the Community Dietitians in Health Centre Network for 2 years.
